The car was not flattend only the roof slightly colapsed. He obviosly undid his seatbelt and made himself into a ball so he would survive. Its not hard, there are 100's of crashes like that and atleast 90% of those people survive without a broken bone.

but we have to realize the side of a truck isn't solid steel; they are built thin and light to decrease the total weight. I wouldn't want one to fall on me but if a truck leaned over on a car, the side would buckle and the car would protect the passenger.
