Yes. Guitar Hero on DS. It sure looks intimidating to look at, what with the strange looking buttons and awkward looking hold, but after I played it, I was surprised that the game is actually pretty good.
If you have played Guitar Hero, you know the idea. Play a song with a fake guitar, and try to get the notes correct. This is the same basic idea, but you can see that we aren't exactly playing on a fake guitar this time. Don't let that scare you, though, because the game and controls are pretty good.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Pros
*The graphics are respectable for a DS game, and it looks like a DS game. Not a GBA game.
*Original DS owners need not fear, for the game comes with an adapter to make the frets fit in it's deeper GTA game slot.
*The game has some pretty good songs which are enjoyable to play. Most of the songs are much better than those on Guitar Hero III.
*The controls are pretty good, and the pick is surprisingly useful.
*The sound quality is very good, and the game is INTENSE with headphones on.
* Using star power is almost flawless. Yell in the mic, blow in the mic, or tap any button. However, there is one problem with it.
*It is left hand friendly, although you'll probably prefer to play with your right hand.
*Despite what you might of read, the frets do NOT cramp your fingers after a few minutes. Maybe after an hour, but it's not THAT bad.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Cons
* Only 25 songs, three of which are from Guitar Hero III, which pissed me off, because they were bad songs too. ****ing KISS...
*Far too easy. I got 5 stars on every song on Medium on my first play, and I haven't gone under 90% yet. I'm no Guitar Hero expert, either.
*The frets comes out of the slot far too easily. If you accidental pull it out while playing (which isn't hard), the only way to put it back in and play more is to turn off the whole DS to plug it back in.
*The flaw in star power. You can touch something on the touch screen which makes it go off, and I always touch it by accident. You can't turn off that function either.
*No online, but I guess there isn't much you can do with online on this one.
*Not enough unlockable content.
------------------------------------------------------------------
So overall, it's a good game with room for a little improvement. It is certainly worth what you pay for it, which I think it only 5 dollars more than a normal top of the line DS game. That's how much I paid, anyway. So I recommend it to DS owners, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over excitement for it. It's just Guitar Hero.
