Ok. I joined a month or two ago. Everyone was nice. Now, after five minutes ive been dereped for not spelling correctly and not using the shift key. I dont really understand why people would do that. I might not be a great speller, but that doesnt mean i have to be dereped for it.

It's not that you made a spelling mistake. Typos happen. But what happens with you, is that you disregard simple grammar taught in early grades, and spell like an idiot half the time. This isn't a typo, it's a habit you've worked up. People really don't like it.

Another thing, seeing as I can't take your quoted post as example of "spelling line an idiot," You hit enter before NSH and failed to edit it, and you didn't capitalize my name. Even though you are doing well to preserve whatever spelling you can, people will be looking for this stuff because you have a reputation of it.

I'm not very good at advice for people like you seeing as I've never been there. Just try not to keep ****ing up.

Maf, ya hes cool wont deny that, but being of a higher power doesnt really deserve the right to fool around with the power. For new members, I know it can be annoying but we simple warn them, if they still refuse, report them then the mods would usually look into it, tell them to stop and yet again, if not, ban em. I mean its really simple, not rocket science. This isnt my first forum but it was pretty basic to me not to pick fights and listen to what the older members said and I joined the Battleon Forums when I was just 11 or so.

Why? They don't ask Maf for mods. Maf tells them. And it isn't just Maf, it's the entire forum, one of the mods is just a delivery boy. The mods talk about it in their little forum, and once all of them have a final decision, a mod is appointed.

What happened in the start (In what I know, I might be wrong), was there were little active members and Maf asked to be a mod. Bill said yes, he became mod. He then needed more mods, and AlmightyD and Rage (Now Slowhand) were put up. Later on, Logger wasn't crazy and was pretty sensible, Maf saw he'd make a good mod, and he was put up. Then, Carman was in the developer forums all alone, and he needed lots of mod help to keep it spam free, so the mods suggested him to be a mod.

The admins really have no time to be on the forums, seeing they own this site, and most likely have a job outside it. It's better if the users run it.

As wonderful as it is that you're so sensitive to the well-being of everyone who meanders by these forums, I'm sorry to say that it just doesn't work that way. There are plenty of places on the internet to speak in "chat speak" drivel and neglect the rules of the English language, but this forum isn't one of them. You can get all the babying you need if you're willing to keep it in NSH, where such things are expected and permitted. However, if you see fit to disregard all advice and warning and take it to the other forums, you deserve nothing other than to get your head torn off the way it does. The real "problem" with flaming here has nothing to do with any members with promise who could bring anything to the boards, but rather those who ignore the rules, guidelines and advice presented to them and spill trivial nonsense and spam everywhere. If they and their kind don't like it here, so be it.

The minute you start cracking down and banning members who speak their mind against those unwilling to display proper message board etiquette, those members willing to write with some degree of regard for grammar begin to leave. Ultimately, the forum would degenerate into yet another cesspool of a chatroom and any semblance of intelligent discussion would be lost. As stated earlier, the internet has a time and a place for just about any sort of behavior, and if this forum doesn't host the sort of behavior you wish to partake in, there's really no reason to stay here.

Regarding Logger's handling of the thread that contained nudity: I don't see what's wrong. The thread was brought up to address a potential violation of the rules, and it was reported that the mods really didn't have the ability to deal with the problem. The links were duly noted as NSFW and provided with complete pertinence to the subject. Even if there was a problem, deleting the links does little to solve it, the content's still hosted on the site (where, it should be noted, it was offered without the aforementioned content warning.)

If you're going to cause enough ruckus to earn an IP ban, I wouldn't imagine that's so severe a punishment.

Ok. I joined a month or two ago. Everyone was nice. Now, after five minutes ive been dereped for not spelling correctly and not using the shift key. I dont really understand why people would do that. I might not be a great speller, but that doesnt mean i have to be dereped for it.
