Next, read Aendy's guide on how to make a thread, as it will help you with the creation of interesting, popular topics. Finally, spend some time looking around the forums (lurking) to get a feel for how everyone gets along and communicates.

After that, just jump on in to whatever conversations interest you, or even start your own.

All the others in this thread have pretty much said it all, except for a few things, which are really common sense - General and Open Topics aren't the same thing. General is for Game Developers. Open Topics is mainly a lounge area. In the past, some people who were incapable of reading used General as Open Topics. Please don't post general threads in the Developer's forum.
