You become a moderator by becoming a respected member around these parts. You gotta know the rules and become familiar with the people on the board.
Do a somersault.

You can get suspended or banned for **** like this apparently.

I know but that is what Hands thought of his recent ban. You can never be safe in this section any more.

Ha, ha. Or twice.

Eh the others are just messing around. In truth, to be a moderator, you must have at least a little bit of mod experience, you must be a valuable member, and most of all you need some level of respect from the other members. Also, From posting on day one you will not automatically become a mod. Depending on the administrator's expectations of a mod, you need to actually prove you're worthy enough to become one.

Also, once you become a mod (depending on how you act towards the others) you MUST keep some level of tolerance within you. If a site admin sees a mod lagging on his/her expectations, depending on how badly the mod ****ed up, the mod will either receive a temporary ban, a demotion, or both.

That's how I see it.

That is a loophole.

You can't get experience unless you are a mod, and you can't be a mod unless you have experience. Right?

It's not a loophole, it's a paradox. To solve said paradox, you must have some form of "training". That is, if you join a forum, get to know the moderators and find out how they treat the forums. For instance, my friend made a site, and she made me a moderator of one forum section, after first figuring out what all the buttons do, then she basically labelled me as 'mod in training'. So, to be a mod you must actually know your way around the forums, not in actual fact have first hand experience.

Well, Mrs. I know everything, here's how I've seen **** go down in my moderating adventures.

Mods'll keep on his merry way until the admin gets pissed

The admin won't get pissed unless there's a certain level of outcry against said mod/s, the level of outcry needed to piss off admin will vary on your admin and how interactive he is with the board

And depending on the moderation team, it might just take a QUIT IT ***GOTS or a demotive ***** slap to get them to stop it.

EDIT: And thingey, you don't need experience to get a mod-status. You either have to A. Appeal to admin, B. Get lucky, C. Be good friends with the admin, or D. Suck a lot of cock.

Mod experience is not a must have. I mean, look at Maf.

Fair point, but even if Maf wasn't a mod, he'd still be able to act like one. Semi-serious, but still sticks to the rules.
