Irony is a pain

Christmas last year, my mom bought me a gaming package which at the time I and she both thought was just a joy stick controller. She bought it thinking it would help me with my online games (shows how much she knows about my gaming cus the box had a controller of what looked like a flight simulator)

Anyway, a month or so ago I rechecked the box and it turned out to be a bunch of programs like "Disc Speed up" "Cheating" and "Optimal Performance"

Well today I was messing around with my computer and it slowed down a lot on my games so I figured, alright, I'll go ahead and install this and speed up my games. I install both the programs reading it about how much faster my PC will be, how it will optimize and slow down the programs not needed to help me play better. It asks me to restart my computer so I go ahead and do so.

I leave my room to get a drink, come back to see a blue screen with the similiar message "A program file has tried to execute that could not be found, please restart and try again, if the problem continues we suggest removing any new programs installed"

I restart, 2 minutes after its on it goes back to the same screen. I fight with this thing for about 30minutes, restarted at least 10 times. System restore wouldnt work, couldnt access "my computer" so finally....came down to it. I actually had to reset my computer back to day 1! :(

Gotta get all my music back, my programs, luckily saved a few pictures.

Well, there's two forms of irony here. The first one is that UF didn't expect that the package would be full of all that stuff and the second thing is that he didn't expect for the computer to crash.

Carman's going by the literal (and literary) definition of irony - the difference between what's expected and what actually happens. It is quite ironic that the program meant to optimize performance would do just the opposite, no?

Actually as far as that goes, I didnt even install that program, just the speed disk and optimizer.
As far as Irony, yea to me its as was stated, I thought it was suppose to help speed my computer up and in the end just trashed it.

Maybe it's a good thing that all your data was erased. We all have folders full of forgotten pictures and such. It really slows the computer down.

Its vocabulary is too small. I end up checking "misspelled" words myself to verify that they're correct because it doesn't recognize them.

Just install a different spell checker...or don't use it at all. Doesn't seem to me that you would need one.

EDIT: Isn't it true that your writen word vocabualry is only a small fraction of your spoken word vocabulary?

I would say you use a wider vocabulary when writing, rather than speaking. There are some words that go down very well in essays and the like, but if you used them in standard conversation, you'd just come across a prick. Unless of course you chose your friends correctly.

I also remember not long ago, everyone was having a mad fit about XGen's "Nazism" and I believe their "no flaming" rule was certainly one of the reasons. Oh the hypocrisy.
