Okay, so everyone knows of my christian conservative parents who hate me being on teh computer and looking at sexy pronz right? Well, my parents have FINALLY agreed to let me have the computer when they get the laptop (Which they will put in the kitchen so they can watch me at all times). there's one catch though:

There's no internet on the computer.

Now, what I can do is put in a wireless card. I have two options, and both will cost me an equal amount of monies. I can get an external wireless card, which plugs right into the USB port, or get an internal one which plugs into a CPI port on the motherboard. Now, knowing my options there's a couple complications. One is being that I have never opened up this thing, put anything in it, and never taken anything out of it. And this is pretty much my only shot at getting a computer in my room, private, so I don't have to worry about my parents watching over my shoulder every ten seconds WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!? etc etc. But if I can manage to get it in and get it functioning, in the long run it'd be better than the external wireless adapter on account of A. My parents wouldn't be asking "what is this thing?" and B. I'd have a less chance of it getting borked.

So what should I do?

I would get the external wireless card, but only have it plugged in when I am using the computer, and have something like a tissue box hiding it just in case the parents come in.

(Good thing about a tissue box is that it would help you "manage your mess".)

Unplug it when you have finished using the computer, and hide it somewhere sneaky.

I'm so clever with solving problems.

I think i'm just going to go with the internal card. I was talking with this guy on IRC and he said it's pretty easy to pop it in.

But then again, WH's idea is pretty good.

I dunno. I want further persuasions.

I totally don't feel your pain and have a computer all to myself, so go with whichever one works better.

Or flip a coin.

Well be sneaky and be "christian conservative" back with the whole "Porn is wrong, I feel bad I ever looked" and then to the "I may need it for school so I can study hard to please you and if you want we can put it in my room so it doesnt bother you when im working"

I mean come on, the use of just saying "for school" was how I got my old computer online in my room. x]
Besides, if they say Yes, you wont have to worry about hiding the card or anything, just Mr Pecker.

If you get an external card on a laptop, and I can speak form experience here, it is very, very easy to snap it in half. However, there isn't really that risk with a desktop computer, as you won't be moving it about. You can always shove it in the back USB ports so your parents can't see it there. If you're trying to be sneak about getting internet in your room, then I think they'd notice you taking apart your computer to put in a wireless card.

but theres also the problem of buying either one, i mean he cant just march out and buy the thing and it would seem kinda shifty to ask for internet after being caught doing that, even with the whole it's for school excuse.

This isn't a conversation about whether or not he should buy a wireless card. I'm sure he's already considered sneaking it to the house. He's asking whether he should get an internal or an external one.

You could always go to the library when you want to use the Internet. Pick one of the hard-to-see computers so you can look at pr0nz without getting caught, then go fap in the bathroom or something.

You sound like you know this from experience.

Quit writing novels here. I didn't read anything after the first five. I don't have an idea...but I say go with what is easier.

I don't understand one thing though...are you trying to hide the internet or just what you're on?

Did you tell Pakman that his post was too long? Go rant at someone for incoherent dribble and do something useful.

No. I read his, and it's fine. He obviously has to read the whole story. I'm not asking him to say "Well I have a problem but I'll keep it to a minimum of 18words so please help."

Yeah. That's what it is. Thanks I CAN NOT believe I didn't see this before. I'd love to see a time that you don't or didn't take one of my jokes seriously.

You should stop making yourself such an easy target.

I enjoy arguing with people. Make a note.
