The creature editor has been leaked a few days before it was supposed to be released. I would post this in the games forum, but it has too much potential as a fun thread, and more members look at open topics.

Can you resize parts like the torso on the one you downloaded? It says you need to use the mouse wheel, but it doesn't work for me.

I removed the Creature Creator from my computer for a few reasons.

1) It is illegal
2) I could be target to virus
3) I would be easy for Maxis to track the computer from which the program was being used.

I will re download the legal one on Tuesday. If you have downloaded it already, I advise you to remove it and wait until Tuesday as well.

Stupid. There's two versions coming out. The free one which is the one that we just downloaded and the one that costs money which has all the parts and then when the actually game comes out you can transfer the creature to it. So the one thats coming out on tuesday for free is the one you just had.

No. They are both supposed to be released on Tuesday. I believe what happened was some gaming company uploaded the Spore creature editor BETA to the Internet.

It's a very good BETA, but it's not complete. It might explain why I can't resize limbs and torsos.

The Spore Creature Creator utility will be available in two different versions on June 17, 2008[41] for PC and Mac. Although the Trial (25% of the paid Version) leaked to the Internet on June 14, 2008[42]. There will be a paid version (for $9.95/£4.99) and a demo that will be downloadable from Spore.com and included in The SimCity Box. The demo version of the editor will only contain 25% of the available creature parts that are found within the paid version.

So unless you plan on getting the one that you have to pay for, you already played the demo version.

You mean the body of the monster? I reshape it clicking at one of the bones and move it to get the form that I want.

The actual game of Spore is not released yet. They just released the creature creator so they have some content to put in the real game.

Spore is about evolution. You start as a cell, and evolve. Cell, creature, tribe, civilisation, space.

You have the basic idea, so just go around Youtube or Google and you'll find out more about it.

It was originally called "Sim Everything," and for good reason. The basic idea is that you start a species all of your own, beginning in the single-cell phase. You evolve the species to your wishes to create whatever beast you want it to be. As evolution continues and your race becomes smarter, you begin banding them together and setting their behavioral patterns as they form tribes and settlements. Eventually they become a civilization and you try to grow and conquer everything you can. Finally, after your race has dominated its world and technology permits, you expand into space and have a massive sandbox of a universe to play in (though, you'll never actually finish dominating it without hacking the game, there's literally millions of planets to explore.)

You should look into it more, there's a bunch of cool stuff involving downloadable content and the malleability of everything in the game to your liking.

As much as Will Wright and Maxis are great creators, and Spore looks like an amazing idea, I'm very reluctant to purchase it. EA's influence really puts me off it. As proven by the infamous EAxis with Sims, they're well known for giving terrible customer service, missing hundreds of glitches and putting in harmful, unnecessary software. For example, the addition of SecuROM (which is more than likely going to be in Spore) that's actually Spyware. If you have weak protection, it'll actually alter your anti-virus software so it can "call home." It's supposedly copywright protection, but be aware that even if you aren't attempting to rip/burn the game, it'll disable any CD writing software, legal or not.
