Ok, so the past couple of days something weird has been happening. Just randomly, my task bar and all my icons will disappear! Although, it leaves all my interwebz open. I'm running a McAfee scan right now, but you guys might already know the problem.

Excuse the double post, please.

I ran the scan and it detected 2 cookies. I'm running the same scan again, and then probably a different scan. Does anyone have any suggestions on other good virus protectors? That are free -.-? Right now I have McAfee, and Adware Alert.

Try ZoneAlarm security suite.

You can download it off of mostly any torrent site, though you might need to go find one with a keygen.

But ZoneAlarm is amazing.

Heh, at least you're not handling the caveman rubbish that is Windows 98.
If it's spyware, you could try finding a Spy Sweeper of some sort. That's how I managed to clean out my mom's Vista of a nasty bit of junk mail she was getting a few months ago.
Unless your computer is about to crash, anything of that nature isn't supposed to happen unless your Active Desktop is turned off as a precautionary measure of some sort.
tl;dr = You might be on your own here....

To make it come back:

1. -Windows XP: Ctrl-Alt-Delete
-Vista: Right click taskbar and click task manager.

2. File>Run>explorer.exe

3. ????

4. Profit!

Windows '98 is fantastic! If it would run games normally I would still use it.

EW, I really suggest ZoneAlarm. It's one of the best, if not the best, protection available for your computer. It gives you complete control. With several EA games, they've added a new protection program called SecuRom, which has caused far too many people major issues. It actually alters your anti-virus software so it can "call home", and as far as I know, ZoneAlarm is the only software that's written well enough to stop it.

I'll see what my dad thinks about getting new protect, but I think I took care of that pesky virus. McAfee is really a life savor, and I've never had any problems with it. If any more crap happens, I'll ask him about ZoneAlarm.

Thank you for all the feed back. More rep for u guisse

Well I'll help. Imagine yourself now. And take away the possibility of viruses.

There. And sorry - I stink with viruses or anything. Good luck though.
