View Full Version : Extinct animal resurrected.

Here is a quote from a news article I was just reading.

"In a world first, scientists have extracted a gene from the extinct Tasmanian tiger and successfully inserted it into a mouse embryo.

It is the first time a gene from any extinct animal has been brought back to life inside another living creature."

Those two paragraphs explain it all, really. I thought this would make a good subject to discuss.

I think this is pretty amazing, bringing an extinct animal back to life. In the same article, it mentioned that even dinosaurs could be resurrected if placed in the correct embryo.

What do you think? Scientific break-through? Or disrespect to the balance of nature? Or even both.

They just infused the tiger's genome into the mouse's, they didn't really bring it to life.

Now, we they get the damn tiger to walk the earth again, then I'll be impressed.

Give it say... three days, and all evidence of it, the creature itself and everyone involved in it will be killed off by angry "pro-life" activists.

Got any links to prove this?

Wtf @ pro-life activists being against bringing extinct animals back to life? :S

As stated before, they put some DNA in a mouse, but it'll still be a mouse, won't it? It won't grow to be a tiger.
Oh no! We've brought the Tasmanian Mouse back to life!

Well, humans are overpopulating the world so I don't think it would be fair to an animal to come back to life and then put in an animal testing facility.

Haha. We need to ressurect some raptors to unleash on New York, Tokyo, and China. xD

Quite a big assumption there. Not all pro-lifers are Christians, you know...

Actually, that is a prime example of why people should be extremely careful with these experiments. You provided a good point.

If dinosaurs somehow came back, we would not even know about it. The government would keep it a secret until the "right time".

....that's not resurrection. That's gene splicing and/or manipulation. Two different scientific achievements there.
Long time no see, Espo. YGen is back up, BTW.

Yeah it's a form of gene mutation, it's actually a mutant. Half Tasmanian Tiger and half Mouse right? So technically it is an abomination.

Bah. We can handle dinosaurs. And this overpopulation bull**** will fix itself, our food supply will get crowded out, we'll go to war where a billion or two people will die, earth saved.

Or the asteroid in 2029 will kill most of us. LOL.

And with how our goverment is the right time would be AFTER the head lines in the newspapers say "Man eaten by raptor"

Alright, it will be a little mouse tiger thingy. A cross breed, kind of.

But imagine, maybe one day you sick XGen folk could have real life furries.

I sure hope those scientists know what they're playing with. They have to be really careful once they start cloning. They could alter the eco system like never before.
