Hallpass Version 5b

Hey everyone as you can see the latest and greatest version of Hallpass has just been released, version 5b, b for beta. We are still working out alot of bugs but I will run down a list of new features and takes suggestions on what we can do to fix and improve the site over the next 2 weeks.

First off the layout should be lighter and easier to use.
We have more social network features like adding friends, posting on their walls ect... most of these changes were release last week as part of a forum upgrade.

The main new feature we think everyone will enjoy is the challenge feature. We wanted to take posting top scores to the next level and this is it.

Now you can challenge friends to competitions on your favorite games, you can open challenges based on time, or even attempts which makes old games pretty fun again. Open one up as an open challenge to play anyone that pops up or challenge a friend from your friends list to a game.

We are tweaking the system to make it more user friendly and would love feedback on what you guys think.

I love the new look and everything flows together well. My only suggestion is that you put a sports section in the forum. It would allow us sports fans to enjoy the forum a bit more.

That was the thread and we thought the main thing we needed was a sports section. I think there was little minor details but you would have to search through the whole thread.

Word Filter, Caps rule, 10 character limit. I think those were the main ones. You could even make the word filter optional.

Lately, there has been plenty of people on Hallpass who want new forums. In this thread, list the new forums you want to see put in.

Here are my suggestions-

Sports Forum: Any type of sports talk could be discussed here. From professional teams to local leagues.

Role play: I haven't seen any threads on Hallpass about Roleplay, but this might be beneficial. Whether it be simple RPs like "Choice A or Choice B". Or much more complex styles of RPs with a Dungeons and Dragons feel to them.

Advice and Help: I'm sure a few people on Hallpass could use a little advice.

Forum Games section: This would clear up the clutter in Open Topics. This could be merged with Role Play.

Don't forget HP International Airport(1), Spammer Land(2), Art Club(3), and Travel Club(4).

1= Forum Board dedicated to threads made by people that will not be on for an extended period of time, preferable if greater than 2 weeks. This will also clean up Open Topics somewhat.
2= For the sole purpose of spamming, flooding, internet gimmicks, and 2x posting to your heart's content. This item should greatly clean out not just Open Topics, but also provides an outlet for everything else that would be deemed spam in ANY Forumboard. This is already suggested, but it deserves the extra emphasis.
3= If this exists somewhere, ignore it. If not, anyone with artistic abilities and sig-making capabilities can feel free and open to post all of their pictures here, as long as it's not overly insane and useless [I.E., a speck of black on a bluescreen] ; If possible, it should have an individual leader, if the board is not open to all members.
4= Travel Club is a personal request. Whether it would be a walk to the park and back home, or something more drastic [I.E., traveling to Morocco], the Travel Club would be for sharing all of your weird stories that come with traveling from Point A to Point B.
Since it is a personal request, I would like to lead it if it goes through.

These are some of the posts about what you wanted. Some are stupid but a few could work I guess. You guys are demanding. I just wanted the change of color *yey!* and disabling of word filter.

I say we add the sports board, remove the 10 char. rule and, as SC just suggested, the optional word filter.

I also preferred the large signs for the games, movies and forums section only because it was easier to see and click on. I keep searching around right now looking for the communities button.

Same here, I just noticed the new update and it was really hard to find things again, and sometimes the square-y background made me lag a lot.

The only thing I dislike about it is the forum color. I liked the green more. I mean it would be cool if some things were blue like some of the top portion. I doubt you guys could pull that off but it would amaze me.

I agree 100%. No other popular site that I can think of used green as its base color.

I have. I think its great. Would be nice if more people knew about it, though, so I dont have to go around playing games I have never seen before.

I don't like the new pass/fail buttons. The old style were much better. Not too keen on the font and size of some of the forum sections. Wish they were bigger and/ or bolder.

I really like it. It makes the top score games so much better. I think that will attract more people to join the site and become active members.

EDIT: I am now the number 1 challenger!

I actually like the blend of green and blue.

I read that I will receive an e-mail if my game is rejected or submitted. So do you guys (the administrators) decide on it or is the game placed somewhere like a new games section?

Check out the search bar at the top of every page. After you type the first few letters of your seach it will suggest possible matches. For instance if you like stick games, try typing "stick" and see what comes up, or try typing "idiot" to find all the games in the idiot test series.

If you take a look at the games channel page (http://www.hallpass.com/channel/games/) you are able to view the top games in each sub-channel, order games by number of views/passes, date, and name. Also you can check out alphabetical lists of all the games.

All these new features should make it easier to find the games you are looking for :)

YGen has that option, but it isn't exactly used that much.
In all honestly, I think the upgrades are becoming a hinderance on my decade-old computer. It's been crashing on me within 5 minutes of opening IE.
Finding the games is actually easier, so what's with all the complaints? But I agree with the too much blue around, HP was green the last time I remember it - a political plus these days!

I actually think it was easier to find games before. You can only see the 8 newest games without having to look around. I think it was just better to have the long page of new games.

Okay, you go to the game you want to play a challenge in. It has to be a top score game. Then, you will see the box to create a new challenge. You can go to the FAQ (http://www.hallpass.com/faq.html) to learn more about the different types of challenges.

Also, they have completely taken out the Hallpass Top Users. You cant find it nor type it directly into the browser.
