Okay, so I thought I'd due this little debate to keep the intelligent posts a-rollin'.

The Debate:
Is it prejudice to ue the word "***" as an insult?

I think it is. I don't see how prejudice towards ***s is any different from being prejudice towards Jews or African Americans. It's just a way of living that is different, much like different religions. Oh sure, it's forbidden by the bible. So is being part of a different religion besides Christian, and there are tons of people who do that.

What are your views?

Of course it's prejudiced.

Saying, "Haha, you're ***" is the same principle as "Haha, you're black!"

And I'm sure most of us steer clear of insulting black people, because we think it's wrong.

Well, if insulting blacks is wrong, why insult ***s?

Well yes, there's insulting in that sense. But I'm talking about when people say it in the non-literal sense. When they mean *** as in stupid. Is it right to do that? That'd be like subsituting black for stupid, which is of course, unacceptable.

Well that, by it's nature, would still be prejudiced, it compares *** to stupid or inadequate, basically saying that there is something wrong with *** people...

Yes exactly, so why is this not more enforced? It's like me walking around and calling people "Yids" (A slur that mean 'jew' used by anti-semites from the holocaust) . Does this not show that despite what the public believes, we do accept discrimination within our society for a period of time?

Because ***s are a minority, and their is a lot oh homophobia these days.

Using it as an insult could or could not be prejiduce.

If used in the way that saying because they're *** they're bad/evil, then it is.

If used in a way where they're just being called *** for no reason, then no.

But then one of the examples you gave didn't "use it as an insult".

If you're saying something is *** for no reason, then it isn't inflammatory, then it isn't an insult, then it doesn't fit the specifications of this debate, then it can't be used as an example to prove your idea.

Every insult is prejudice. There are stupid people, people call eachother stupid as insults. There are actual retards, people call eachother retards as insults. There are suck ups, people use that as an insult. Etc.

I probably dont feel this way because of the fact that I am Italian and friends call me Dago and Wop all the time and it doesnt bother me. I mean lighten up guys.

I believe that the phrase is derogitory, any way you use it. Homosexual is the only good way to say it in the literal way. And using *** as an insult is just stupid. It means "Happy."
